A vast array of equipment ranging from sheet fed 5 & 8 colour presses to 16pp heatset web, combine to elevate the Atlas production capacity to one of the largest in the region. With a complete bindery, Atlas Printing Press is capable of producing up to 15,000 books or magazines per hour. The complete line up of finishing equipment ranges from Muller Martini Perfect and Saddle Stitching lines plus UV varnishing, gold foiling, laminating and a host of other complete ancillary equipment, both in digital and offset, to position Atlas Printing Press perfectly to cater to short-run commercial work, as well as high volume magazine runs in excess of 500,000.
With the recent investment in the three Screen Truepress Jet Web 520 digital web, Atlas Printing Press is now able to produce up to half a kilometer of variable data in full color per minute!
At Atlas Printing Press, we have equipped ourselves with the tools and technology to operate in an ethical and environmentally friendly manner, as we work towards waste management and proper recycling methods that live up to our ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. We use a special filtration process to reduce water wastage to a minimal level by reducing heat and chemical dosing. We recycle paper waste, and we ensure we order the exact paper sizes to eliminate waste.
International standards have now been set up to certify that the paper is obtained from responsibly managed forests. They also certify the industries that work with this paper. Certified printers can display they are supporting
the growth of responsibly managed forests, worldwide.
With in-house design and DTP departments at all locations, staffed 24/7 to keep the presses running, we at Atlas Printing Press have the capability to work on the smallest of designs, such as business cards, booklets and brochures, to complete catalogue work with translations into various languages such as Arabic, French, Chinese and Russian.
A team of 24 graphics and CTP operators man the studios, working on shifts depending on the type of work they specialize in. Magazine and layout designers work according to the schedules of incoming weekly and monthly magazines, while commercial artists work on a more traditional schedule.
Unlike several printing companies in Dubai, we at Atlas Printing Press have three complete CTP Fuji lines that can produce up to 75 plates per hour if required. With an emphasis on green and sustainable print a priority, Atlas Printing Press has invested in the latest chemical-free CTP line, which is a first among the printing companies in the UAE. This means there is less need to dispose of chemicals.
For the proofing stages, Atlas Printing Press has three large format digital printers, one of which is a Xerox 700 printer, which produces production quality proofs in high or low resolution.
A vast array of equipment ranging from the latest computer-to-plate pre-press output devices complement the 16pp heatset commercial KBA web presses at both locations. The larger 70 x 100 8 color and 5 color presses with online water-based coating systems are used primarily for the publishing segment and long-run catalog work.
The heatset web KBA 16-page printing press with online dryers and folding lines is the ultimate in magazine and long-run work, which require silicon coating on very lightweight stock. Extra features such as longer dryers are used to ensure that the paper does not suffer from the high temperatures, and Eltex water spray units after the chilling rollers have been added on to ensure that the paper is rehydrated.
With a vast range of products to bind and finish, Atlas Printing Press has had to invest in a huge range of binderies, trimming lines and accessory lines such as UV varnishing and thermal lamination film coaters. Two Muller Martini saddle stitching lines with three knife trimmers and stackers plus one Muller Martini perfect
binding line with the same features give Atlas Printing Press the ability to saddle stitch up to 15,000 magazines per hour or perfect bind 8,000 magazines in one hour, a task achievable by very few printing setups in Dubai. Complete folding lines, with the addition of Hunkeler finishing lines for newspaper and collateral print, give Atlas Printing Press the edge in every aspect of print finishing.
Furthermore, we are supported by a team of over 80 binders, based across the two locations. From magazine mailings to inserting of promotional items into magazines, this department functions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Truly a commendable job by the pioneers of printing in Dubai!
